Provincetown Fantasia Fair

Fantasia Fair returns to Provincetown October 14 through 21.  It's a week long long celebration of gender diversity and is the longest running annual event in the transgender world.

Quoting from their web site:
"Fantasia Fair is unique amongst transgender events as it takes place in beautiful Provincetown - a wonderfully accepting community where anyone can mingle in the streets in friendship, safety, and acceptance. Yes, you really are welcome and free in all of Provincetown, and, yes, you will make friends at Fantasia Fair that you will keep forever."

The schedule is full of events each day with workshops and speakers each day to special events each evening.  If you've always wanted to walk the runway sign up for the fashion show held on Wednesday evening.  Again, quoting from their web site "Being in the fashion show is a ton of fun and a great way to get some modeling and stage experience. The audience is always warm, welcoming, and out to have a good time. In the entire history of the Fair, no one has ever died from entering the Fashion Show!"  It's still a great event to attend if you are a little on the shy side.

And don't forget when you need Provincetown lodging The Somerset House Inn is here for you.  We're open year-round and would be happy to have you stay with us.  We think we have one of the best locations in Provincetown, right on Commercial Street where you are steps away from everything.

2012 Provincetown Women's Week

The 28th annual Women's Week in Provincetown begins on Monday, October 8th and runs through Sunday, October 14th.  What started out in 1984 as a 'clambake on the beach weekend for women' has grown into one of the most popular events in Provincetown during the year.

An amazing list of entertainers are in town and this year and includes Jennie McNulty, Michelle Vought, Mimi Gonzalez, Judy Gold, Vickie Shaw, Kate Clinton, Suzanne Westenhoeffer and more.  I've always thought Women's Week was one of the best organized events in Provincetown.  If you like planning out your entire day pick up the calendar of events when you get into town and plan out the events you want to attend.  Or if you are a little more casual with your planning pick up the calendar of events and decide on the spur of the moment which events you want to attend.  Either way a number of performances do sell out so the sooner you buy your tickets the better.

Everyone has different tastes in activities and events, but I'd suggest a few 'don't miss' activities.
Monday at 8pm - Women's Week Kick-Off Party at The Pied Bar
Monday, Thursday or Saturday from 4pm to 7:30pm - Sunset Dune Tour and Beach Fire
The Dune Tours themselves are amazing, add in a beautiful Provincetown sunset and a fire on the beach and you have a wonderful event.  I'd suggest trying to go on this tour when it's a mostly clear day.
Tuesday at 3pm - Afternoon Music Cruise with Zoe Lewis
Imagine a gentle tour of the Provincetown bay while listening to the gorgeous voice of Zoe Lewis.  Can it get any better than that?
Thursday or Saturday at 11am - Provincetown Walking Tour with Richard Olson
Richard's walking tours are a Women's Week tradition.  Get some exercise and learn about the famous (and infamous) women of Provincetown's colorful history.
Thursday at noon - Kate Clinton Football Classic
This is a hugely popular event, come to participate or as a spectator, always a lot of fun.
Saturday at 3pm - Provincetown Cares presents 'The Women'
See the beautifully restored Provincetown Town Hall auditorium and attend a benefit reading of The Women.
If you have a performer you just can't miss and would like to purchase tickets in advance click on the following:
The Crown and Anchor:

As you plan to attend Women's Week keep in mind that our average daily temperature is 60 degrees during the day and 45 degrees in the evening.  If you are doing an event on the water, make sure your bring a jacket.
